So are these professional athletes or do they suffer from brittle bones disease?

I get the diving and embellishment was a problem and the refs are trying to combat that - but the amount of rolling around on the ground writhing in pain is just absurd.

They seriously need a rule that if the game is stopped for you, you need to spend at least 5 minutes off the field or get subbed out. I bet injuries would magically disappear almost entirely

Daring take.

While I am sure it hurts to get hit with a hockey puck, I am also pretty sure a soccer ball traveling at 120mph into your unprotected genitals is going to take the wind out of your sails. Placing your hand over your twig and berries so your bird dog doesn’t get flattened just seems like good sense to me. But you may be right, the 5 million people who like hockey as a sport may be right and the 3.2 billion who watch the World Cup final are probably wrong.

The fake injuries have infected college football, more so in the last couple of years, just to slow down fast offenses. I don’t like it even if it helps my team. It’s lame

Sure getting hit in the plums with a soccer ball is rough but of the 10 dives I’ve seen all but 2 were legit “yeah his knee is going the wrong way” - but rather “I disrupted your momentum and you fell down so grab your thigh until the ref notices”

Of course soccer/football is more popular. All it takes is a ball and a pair of uprights and practically anyone can play a pickup game nearly anywhere at any age. Hockey requires vastly more equipment so it’s not like kids can run out and mimic the stars they were just watching during intermission.

I think it was last years finals, watched a defenseman take a shot to the mouth, knocked out a few teeth. Coincidentally his orthodontist father was in the crowd watching.

If it’s a legit penalty then call the penalty. If it’s a clean tackle let play continue and if they’re so injured that they can’t carry themselves to the sideline then they need to be taken out of the game if not for at least a set amount of time.

I love soccer, but the diving(at the very least it’s obscene exaggeration) is out of control. FIFA needs to implement a rule to force anyone who goes down and stops or delays play needs to sit out a set amount of time.

My point was that hockey interests me so little that I have never been able to watch a whole game. Even when the local team won the Stanley Cup a couple weeks ago. Even when the parade for that win went right by my office. “Better,” in this case is subjective. For instance were I to say hockey is stupid and little more than armed figure skating, with a fan base made up of bloodthirsty lunatics with small peckers and equally small senses of self worth, that would just be my humble opinion on the subject. Your view on the subject likely differs.
